3 Types of Boots You Need This Winter

With the temperatures dropping and the snow falling, you’re going to need boots that keep you warm this winter. However, that doesn’t mean you have to throw style out the window! There are three specific styles of boots that you should have in your closet for the chilly season because they’re the best of both worlds (warmth & style).

I used to despise the rainy/snowy season because I never knew what to wear, but now that I’ve figured out which shoes are appropriate, it’s easy-peasy to get dressed in the morning!

Here are three styles of boots that you should certainly have in your wardrobe this winter…

(1) Combat Boots

It’s taken a few years for me to get used to the combat boot look because originally I felt like they just weren’t me. However now that I’ve styled them a few different ways I know how versatile and convenient they are for the winter time.

A combat boot can take your look from a 5 to a 10 within seconds, and they really do look great with just about anything. Even if you’re a skirts and dresses kind of gal, a combat boot can add an edgy feel to your girly look. They also look great with a pair of skinny jeans or leather leggings and an oversized sweater.

(2) Patent Boots

I’ve never been the type to wear traditional rain boots so when I found my first pair of patent booties I was happily surprised that they kind of double as them! A patent boot is like the stylish version of a rain boot. They come in all different colours and styles and with a thick pair of socks they actually keep your feet nice and cozy!

Depending on the length of the boot, they can be styled with jeans, skirts, trousers and dresses. The options are endless with this style!

(3) Knee High Leather Boots

This is the first year that I’ve actually purchased a pair of knee high boots and seriously WHAT was I waiting for?! I got two pairs of scrunched leather knee highs, one white pair and one black, and let me tell you, they are GORG.

Since I’ve recently been wearing skirts more often, I knew that I had to at least try on a pair of knee highs. It’s always been difficult for me to buy taller boots because I’m so short (4’10”) LOL, but I finally found a pair that fits!!

It’s obvious that this style of boot keeps you warm and the best part is that you can wear dresses and skirts with them in the winter time without freezing your butt off.

Out of these three boot styles, what is your favourite?

Is anybody ever truly ready for Halloween? I feel like it creeps up on me every year! Get the pun? 😉 For real though, thinking of a costume is pretty challenging and they can get quite expensive too. Today I’ve rounded up some easy costumes that you can re-create out of your very own closet.

#1 Blair Waldorf – Gossip Girl

Whether it’s a party dress or a preppy school outfit, Blair is super easy to dress as! Here’s what you’ll need for a preppy school look:

  • navy blue mini pencil skirt
  • classic white button up shirt (long sleeve or quarter sleeve)
  • pop of colour (headband or handbag)
  • knee high navy socks
  • flats

#3 Rachel – Friends

This is one of my favourite costume ideas because I haven’t seen it done by a lot of people and Rachel is one of the easiest characters to re-create. She really dressed quite normal in the show Friends so you’ll definitely have her pieces laying around your closet. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • denim overalls (preferably shorts but pants will do)
  • navy or black blazer
  • striped t-shirt
  • white keds or vans

A classic indeed and so simple to dress up as! This is the perfect costume for a Halloween party because it’s so fancy! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • black high-neck, floor length dress
  • pearl necklace
  • sparkly earrings
  • mini tiara
  • black flats or heels
  • long black gloves
  • large black cat-eye sunglasses

#5 Regina George – Mean Girls

So you could be the star of the show and dress as Regina, or you could do this whole Mean Girls costume as a group! Here’s what you’ll need for Regina:

  • pink mini skirt
  • pink cardigan
  • white camisole (if you really want to go all out, write “A Little Bit Dramatic” in pink on your shirt)
  • pink high heels

** feel free to dress like her, just don’t be a mean girl! 🙂
