My Current Daytime Skincare Routine

Here’s what I use on the daily to keep my skin healthy and glowing!

It’s been a while since I’ve shared my update skincare routine, so today I’m laying it all out for you. I’ve been struggling a bit with acne recently so I’ve switched over to some products that are helping to control it. In addition, I’ve been using some products that help with the texture and enlarged pores. Let’s dive in shall we?

#1 Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser

This is the cleanser that I’ve been using to combat incoming acne and pimples that have already surfaced. It has salicylic acid which is a chemical exfoliant and helps to break down impurities!

#2 Sunday Riley Good Genes

To get rid of my acne scars I’ve been using the Good Genes because it has Lactic Acid. It exfoliates the skin and helps to unclog pores, even out texture and reduce dark spots. I’ve found that after using this for even just a month my scars have lightened quite a bit.

#3 Swiss Line Recovery Serum

Basically this serum helps to revive the skin. So whether it’s because I’ve been out drinking too much or maybe eating poorly during the week, this serum improves my skin’s self-renewal. The signs of fatigue and stress are much less visible!

#4 Swiss Line Perfection Booster

This is a booster that I mix in with the Recovery Serum. It has 10% lactic acid which again helps to exfoliate the skin. Basically this booster helps to resurface and smooth skin texture and reduce the size of my pores.

#5 DecortĂŠ Overnight Performance Cream

This cream hydrates, lifts and firms my skin. A little bit goes a long way and I love it because my skin feels so moisturized when I wake up! The ingredients in it help the skin to look more youthful and bouncy over time.

#6 Summer Fridays Jetlag Mask

Under my eyes I use the jetlag mask because out of all the eye creams I’ve tried, this one truly helps to reduce puffiness and darkness when I’m extremely tired.

#7 Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I don’t remember the last time I had chapped lips and this sleeping mask is why! It’s super thick and smells amazing. It keeps my lips super hydrated and plump.

What are some skincare products you’re loving right now?

Luxury Skincare Dupes

Here are three of my tried and true luxury skincare dupes!

Skincare is a big part of my life and although there are many amazing products out there, it’s hard to find affordable ones that do what they’re supposed to do. I’ve tried a mix of everything, from luxury skincare to drugstore products and as much as I’ve loved using the more expensive items, they haven’t always been the best for my skin. In fact a lot of my affordable skincare works just as well. So today I want to share my tried and true “luxury skincare dupes” with you.

I completely understand that the more expensive products are sometimes manufactured, sourced and produced with different ingredients. However this doesn’t always mean that they’re better than some of the more affordable options out there. Unless your skin has been trained to use only the most expensive products on the market, you’re probably going to be fine using the $20 moisturizer versus the $300 one.

This post isn’t to bash the more expensive products, because I’ll admit, if I could afford them, I’d certainly be using them. There’s something about putting luxury skincare on your face that makes you feel GOOD. Sometimes this is because of special and more expensive ingredients within them, and other times it’s just because you’re using La Mer. If you know what I mean 😉 But skincare that WORKS isn’t always expensive. It doesn’t have to be! And with that being said, let’s dive into the dupes!

La Mer Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream

Last summer I received a 1oz tub of the La Mer Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream. It’s safe to say that I was swooning. It was AMAZING! I used that product like it was the last one ever made. I used it mainly in the daytime because I knew the full benefits would show beneath makeup and on a fresh face. I also used it on minor sunburns, which healed after just two days. The cream smoothed my skin, smelled amazing and miraculously healed my sunburns. And YES, I have found a dupe for it.

The moisturizer that I am now using comes very close to the La Mer Cool Gel Cream, besides the sunburn healing (because I haven’t tested that yet). I’m currently using the Youth Cream from The Body Shop and I’m already on my second jar. This cream moisturizes, without leaving a greasy finish; it actually leaves a very pretty glow on the skin! I use it day and night, underneath makeup and on a fresh face. I’ve seen a huge improvement in the texture of my skin as well as hydration. In comparison to the La Mer Cool Gel Cream at $230CAD, this Youth Cream rings in at a total of $34.00CAD. It’s definitely approved on my end!

LancĂ´me Advanced GĂŠnifique Youth Activating Serum

In June last year I was gifted the LancĂ´me Advanced GĂŠnifique Youth Activating Serum (that’s a mouthful) and put it to use right away. After using it overnight for just a week I saw a huge improvement in the size of my pores and the smoothness of my skin. I believe I even reviewed it on the blog here once or twice. This was a product that I also used as if it was the last one ever produced. I used it up until the last drop and was very sad to say goodbye. Since it retails for $134CAD I was not willing to purchase it myself, and instead went on a hunt for a comparable but affordable serum.

Last month I was introduced to the Youth Concentrate Serum from The Body Shop and instantly fell in love. This serum has the exact same consistency as the Lâncome one and seems to work just as well. I use it overnight after my toner and before my facial oil. I’ve seen a big improvement in the size of my pores, softness of my skin and the overall appearance of my skin. In comparison, the Youth Concentrate Serum from TBS costs less than half the price of the Lâncome ($50CAD).

Rodan + Fields Redefine Multi-Function Eye Cream

When I was an active R+F Consultant I used the Multi-Function Eye Cream every single night and had amazing results. I realize though that $75CAD for a small eye cream just isn’t in some people’s budgets, so I started to look for alternatives to share with you guys. I tried a lot of eye products, serums, rollers, creams etc. and it took me months to find something comparable in size and cheaper in price. The R+F eye cream is fantastic, I won’t lie about that, but it is steep in price so a great alternative is Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado.

The Kiehl’s eye cream is the same size as the R+F one and costs almost less than half the price ($40CAD). It’s just as good in my opinion because it de-puffs and reduces darkness. I can’t speak for the reduction of fine lines because I don’t have any….so that will be reviewed at a later time LOL.

If you have any of your own tried and true luxury skincare dupes, I would love to hear about them in the comments!
