Evening Skincare Routine

You all know I’m a skincare junkie, I love buying, testing and reviewing products but that also means my routine is constantly changing. With the recent season switch and new products arriving all the time my evening routine has changed a little since I last shared it!

My evening routine is what helps me wind down after a busy or stressful day and it’s something that I NEVER forget to do. Even if I’ve had a couple drinks, even if I’m dead tired or not feeling well, I know that my evening care is what keeps my skin from freaking out.

I have a naturally oily face (in my t-zone) and normal in the other areas so I like to use gentle products. Below are my go-to skin treats in order of my routine! 🙂

  1. Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution – Oily Skin: I start my routine by removing all makeup with this water and a cotton pad. It’s amazing at getting (mostly) every bit off, even waterproof makeup! micellaire.jpg
  2. Olay Oily Minimizing Foaming Cleanser: I continue with this super gentle and non-drying foaming cleanser. I love it because you don’t need a ton of it for a good clean and it leaves your skin baby smooth. olay
  3. Rodan + Fields Unblemish Clarifying Toner: This is the only toner that I use because I find that it really helps to shrink my pores and give my skin a deep clean if there’s any leftover bacteria. untj125-unblemish-clarifying-toner-lg
  4. Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate: I received this serum as a gift 3 months ago and haven’t stopped using it since. I’m even going to buy the serum in-store once I run out. That’s how AMAZING it is! I honestly believe that this serum is what prevents breakouts and keeps my skin hydrated and plump 24/7. 3605533117217_1.7OZ_ADVANCEDGENIFIQUE
  5. Summer Fridays Jetlag Mask: I now use this mask as an overnight under-eye treatment because it visibly reduces my dark circles in the AM! It’s also very hydrating which is going to be great during these dryer fall and then winter months. s2071322-main-zoom
  6. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: I hate having chapped lips so I always apply this last and right before I sleep. It’s a really nice thick consistency and smells like fruity bubblegum! I wake up with SUPER moisturized lips every time. zoom_263e9a674cf11988b0edd6af94da81dd41db8879_1520356136_33733_Laneige_LipSleepingMask_Classic_WEB

A Body Moisturizer That Does More Than Just Hydrate

Hydrated and glowing skin is important to me, therefore I’m always on the hunt for the latest and greatest body moisturizers. I’ve finally found one that goes above and beyond and not only hydrates from morning to night but also prevents future moisture loss. The brand new moisturizer is called the “Active Hydration Body Replenish” from Rodan+Fields. This is something that we should all be using, especially as we move into the dryer months of autumn and winter! Take a look below to see why this hydrating moisturizer is ALL THAT.

Let’s keep this plain and simple! A great body moisturizer should show great results but shouldn’t be so complicated!

  1. This hydrating moisturizer sincerely keeps your skin hydrated from morning to night. It’s “long-lasting” capabilities aren’t just written on the label, they’re demonstrated every time the cream is applied to your skin. After one day of wearing this moisturizer all over (legs, arms, chest) my body felt more hydrated at the end of the day than at first application of other brand moisturizers! This stuff works deep in your skin and ensures that you can FEEL the hydration.
  2. It makes your skin GLOW. We hear the word “glow” everywhere, I’m even an offender of this, but this cream really does leave your skin glowing. Just yesterday I put it on and realized that my skin was sparkling the tiniest bit! Are there tiny sparkles in it? I don’t know, but whatever it is, it leaves your skin dazzling 😉
  3. After just a few days of using this moisturizer consecutively your skin feels brand new and it’s difficult to return back to your original state of dryness. Which is good obviously, we don’t want to go backwards! The mix of Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin in this cream actually draws in moisture from the atmosphere and LOCKS IT IN. No wonder the hydration effect doesn’t wear off!
  4. A little goes a long way. Just like any luxurious product, a little goes a long way with this body moisturizer! Considering that the tub is so large, one of these could last months which is great for the budget IMO.

How to Use It

This might seem like a silly subject line but there is a specific way that you can apply this cream so that its full potential is used! I personally like to apply this cream as soon as I towel dry my body after a bath or shower. This ensures that the skin is getting full hydration as soon as you’re out in open air!

Pricing & Availability

This large tub (200mL) goes for $76CAD and can last you anywhere between 3-6 months depending on how often and how much you use it. If you ask me, that’s a killer price for the quality of moisturizer that you’re getting! This is available online only and luckily I’ve got a link for you right here!

The Eye Cream That I Swear By

It wasn’t until I discovered Rodan + Fields that I started using eye cream, but boy am I happy that I did! A lot of people think that eye cream is only necessary for “aging” skin and only works as an “anti-aging” product but that is far from the truth. The eye cream that I swear by and use every single day not only works to reduce wrinkles and crow’s feet (which I do not yet have) but it also reduces puffiness and darkness underneath the eye. That’s exactly what I need as a student juggling work, full-time classes, blogging, YouTubing and a social life! Phewf!

I’ve been using the Rodan + Fields Redefine Multi-Function Eye Cream for an entire year now and I’ve had dark circles or puffiness under my eyes probably 3 times out of the whole year (due to reasons besides fatigue). My under-eye areas are not a huge problem anymore and I definitely don’t feel the need to apply concealer all the time.

If you hold back from including eye cream in your skincare routine now, I guarantee it’ll be a problem area later on in life. Taking care of each part of your face is crucial at every stage of your life and in my opinion, as a 19 year old I feel like my skin is in its prime and I should be doing everything I can to keep it this way! Eye cream is just as important as moisturizing your face to prevent dehydration and future wrinkles.

If you’re interested in trying out this eye cream you can shop it here!

How to Treat Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is something that can be very hard to control and maintain, so I’m here to tell you what’s working for me and what could work for you. First of all, let’s discuss what the symptoms of sensitive skin are:

  • Redness; minor to flaring red skin
  • Irritation; to the touch or on its own
  • Sensitivity and reaction to most products; creams, face washes, toners, cosmetic products
  • General itchineness or eczema; causing or contributing to your sensitivity
  • Blotchiness; general blotchiness or a reaction to product

If you have one or more of these symptoms then you probably have sensitive skin! I personally get red in my t-zone, nose, and chin area and can have pretty bad reactions to products. The products that I stand by to tame my sensitive skin and build up a stronger and more moisturized skin-barrier is the Soothe Regimen from Rodan+Fields.

The regimen is a 4-step process that includes very gentle products to help tame any symptoms of sensitive skin. The regimen steps are listed below.

  1. Gentle Cream Cleanser – to cleanse your skin of impurities, bacteria, and makeup residue (I usually remove my makeup with a remover before this cleanser).
  2. Sensitive Skin Treatment – the most active ingredient in the regimen, to instantly soothe redness and irritation in under 5 minutes.
  3. Replenishing Moisturizer – to ensure your skin is always moisturized.
  4. SPF 30 Broad Spectrum Sunscreen – to protect your sensitive skin from those rays! Even on a cloudy day.

Using these products for almost 6 months now has really helped my skin to restore its moisture and build a good enough barrier to use stronger products. You can visit my website here to read up on the ingredients and pricing!

Trip to Ontario

As you may know, I was recently in Toronto for four days on a trip for my Rodan+Fields business. Before this trip I had never been outside of the Pearson International Airport so this was extra exciting for me because I love exploring new places, especially big cities! I’ve been to Los Angeles multiple times and I can honestly say that Toronto to me felt like a colder Canadian version of it. The freeways, the big city, the lights, the billboards, you so many things! In just four days I was able to visit and experience dining at different restaurants, get a feel for the people, and gain loads of experience from exhibiting at the Toronto Congress Centre.

Where I Stayed

The Toronto Congress Centre is closer to the airport than downtown, and therefore my Dad and I decided to stay at a hotel in Mississauga. It was a 10 minute drive from the Congress Centre so it gave me a little more time to sleep too! Our hotel was nice but unfortunately we didn’t have much down time there except for late in the evenings. Besides our washroom fan not working, it was a good stay. The highlight of the hotel was definitely breakfast in the morning though… it’s my favourite meal of the day. Orange juice, waffles, omelettes, bagels, tea mmm.

Where I Dined

3 nights equals 3 dinners at 3 different places, woo hoo! On the first night, right after my Dad picked me up from the airport we headed over to Tuckers Marketplace and boy was I hungry! This award winning buffet restaurant served us well, and the food was all very tasteful. I ate a plethora of foods but the top 3 for me were the mediterranean kale salad, cranberry quinoa salad, and butter chicken tortolini. The service was great as well and despite the huge crowd of people we walked into at first, our wait time was only about 20 minutes! I highly recommend Tucker’s for buffet style lovers.

Tucker’s Marketplace

On Sunday night we met up with my Aunt whom I had never even met! This was the dinner that I had been looking forward to the most because it was right downtown just a couple blocks away from the CN Tower (photo-op!) and I was curious about my Aunt. From the way she was reviewing the restaurant we were about to dine at I could tell that she too was a foodie! She introduced us to the restaurant Figo  and when I insta-searched it I could tell it was going to be nice AND it fit my theme on Instagram (score!). The restaurant was actually beneath the building my Aunt lives in so we were able to park for free (double score!). You can read my full review of Figo here.

Figo Toronto

Monday night, my last night in Toronto sigh, ended in mounds of sushi and Japanese food at 168Sushi in Mississauga. I can’t complain though, I seriously have an obsession with Japanese food. This all you can eat was SO GOOD. First of all, our menus were actually iPads; no servers took our order! This was insanely cool, especially because each item said $0 beside it and we could add to our “cart” as many items as we wanted (AYCE was a fixed price obviously). The only extras were drinks, and I ended up ordering a “Chocolate Monkey” but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wished I would have. I also ended up devouring 15 whole pieces of salmon sashimi, my FAVOURITE, and a bunch of other menu items. I found it easier to eat a variety of different foods because the servings were actually smaller than usual. So I highly recommend this restaurant for those of you that can never decide what to order at a restaurant. You can try them all here! They have quite a few locations around Ontario too!

Toronto Gift Fair Experience

You’re probably wondering what I was actually doing in Toronto so now I’ll spill the details.

What the Toronto Gift Fair is All About

The TGA is a trade show for manufacturers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, distributors, and suppliers to showcase their products or services to certified retailers and buyers. The show has attracted an international audience over the years and is the top national gift fair and largest trade fair in Canada.

How It Happened

My Dad owns a furniture company, E9 Luxury Living, and since he is a wholesale distributor he often travels to different cities around the world to exhibit his product. I have also worked with him a number of times as a Sales Associate, my favourite being at the Las Vegas Summer Market 2 years ago! I’ve gained loads of experience from working with him, and therefore he suggested that I travel with him to Toronto to exhibit my Rodan+Fields products. He had a gigantic booth at this show and he generously gave me a corner piece of it to do my own thing. He rocks.

What I Was Doing

As a Consultant for Rodan+Fields my Mom and I can run our business however we want to, so exhibiting our product and business opportunity at the TGF was an experiment to determine whether or not doing shows was good way to get our business out there. My Dad set up a smaller booth for me at the corner of his so that I would be able to showcase all of the Rodan+Fields products and speak with retailers and buyers. My hopes in exhibiting were to attract buyers and retailers with an established clientele and customer base. In doing this I would share with them the opportunity of displaying R+F products in their stores for their customer base to see, ask about, and order online. This would be a way for business and store owners to take advantage of what they have already built and make an extra income. At the end of the day, I think that doing the show was good for me and my Mom’s business, and it also enabled me to practice speaking about our product and opportunity. The only downfall doing this show was the fact that it was a “gift show” rather than a beauty or pharmacy show which we may have done better in. But I’m just happy we were able to test the waters out anyway.

My flight home was quite tiring, arriving at 2:30am Toronto time was not fun. Yet I managed to shower, unpack, and get a full 8 hours of sleep before work the next morning. Now that is efficiency my friends.

Overall my trip to Toronto was a memorable and eye-opening experience. I learned new things about my business, improved my people skills, and got to spend quality time with my ever so hard-working Dad. He’s my inspiration, if you’re wondering 😉

My booth setup!

Until next time TO!

Nightly Facial Routine – Winter

Beauty and skin-care go hand in hand, and if you want to show off your best face possible then taking care of it night and day is so vital! I’ve decided to share my nightly routine with you to give you an idea of what taking care of your skin looks like and to introduce some products to you that I honestly swear by!!

As our skin changes from time to time, for example oily to dry between seasons, my nightly routine does change. This is my Winter routine as my face is quite dry in most areas and requires some more moisture!

First Step: Remove any and all makeup. I use the Rodan+Fields makeup-removing wipes and the Rimmel Oil-Free remover with cotton pads.

Second Step: Rinse face and top of neck with luke warm water, using my hands not a cloth.

Third Step: Gently cleanse face with a clearly defined “facial cleanser”. *don’t use soaps or cleansers that are not meant for the face* I have been using the Rodan+Fields “Soothe” gentle cleanser. It’s a cream moisturizer and can be rinsed off or wiped off with a soft cloth if you have dryer skin. I rub it all over my face with my fingertips (excluding eyelids) for 30-60 seconds.

Fourth Step: Rinse off cream cleanser with lukewarm water and pat dry face.

Fifth Step: Apply toner, I use the Rodan+Fields “Unblemish” pore minimizing toner and apply it all over my face with a cotton pad.

Sixth Step: Wait 1-3 minutes for the toner to dry and apply acne treatment. I use the Rodan+Fields “Unblemish” dual intensive treatment to cover any spots of acne or areas that are acne prone. Wait 5 minutes for the treatment to dry.

Seventh Step: Apply moisturizer. I recently started using the CeraVe moisturizer because my skin has been very dry from the cold weather. I put on a decent amount and wait for it to dry before doing anything else.

Eighth Step: Apply eye cream on eye bags and near crows feet area. I use the Rodan+Fields “Redefine” eye cream which helps to prevent darkness, lines, and puffiness.

Ninth Step: Apply lip serum or lip treatment. I use the Rodan+Fields “Redefine” Lip Renewing Serum which actually renews my lips natural moisture and texture. (yes it really works, I love it)

Here are a few helpful tips for taking care of your pretty little face!

  1. Use lukewarm water rather than cold or hot when washing and rinsing your face. Exposing your skin to these extremes can cause irritation, excess dryness, and even blood vessel ruptures!
  2. Pat dry your face DO NOT rub. The skin on your face is some of the most sensitive on your entire body so rubbing it can really damage its elasticity and in extreme cases cause premature sagging.
  3. Use a fresh and clean towel to dry your face. Don’t stumble around and just grab any towel you can find because you never know what kind of bacteria is on it! Yuck!
  4. Exfoliate your skin once a week. Doing this will remove the stubborn dead skin cells and excess product that might not have been removed from your previous daily washes.
  5. Moisturize both day and night. Even if you have oily skin, moisturizing is essential for maintaining a glowing appearance! If you don’t moisturize, the oil glands in your skin will actually work against you and produce more oil.

Check out my video on this routine here!

I would love to hear about some of your nightly rituals as well! Feel free to share with me your tips & tricks to maintaining healthy, glowing, and beautiful skin. Visit my Contact Page for more details!

Being a Consultant & Entrepreneur

So you’ve read that I’m a Consultant and Entrepreneur but some of you might be wondering what that actually means and what I do. In this post I’ll explain to you exactly that!

A Consultant is generally known as “a person who gives professional or expert advice” and that’s pretty much what I do, but in the field of skin-care. As you know, I am a Consultant for the premium skin-care company Rodan+Fields and so being known as this means that I help and advise people on what types of skin-care they should be using to treat their concerns. The products I  am a so-called “expert” in and advise to people are those of Rodan+Fields. Our skin-care treats sensitive, aging, blemish prone, and sun damaged skin and we also have Essential and Enhancement products such as sunscreens, moisturizers, self tanners, exfoliators, and face powders. Although I am not a dermatologist, I do know quite a bit about how the products work, and what combinations of products work for different skin concerns! If there are people that are looking for solutions to their problems, I’m always here to help out. A big part of Consulting for a direct marketing company is reaching out. Not in a demanding or intimidating way, but in an open, honest, and encouraging way. I stand by all of the products that we provide for people because of the Life Changing results I have seen in hundreds of people, mainly whom I know but some whom I have seen real photos of. Not only that, but I also trust the dermatologists that created all of our products (they created ProActive HELLO, they’re THAT good).

At Rodan+Fields we as Consultants are what keep the company running strong! We are the ones who share the wonderful products with people (and get paid for it!). There is no monthly or annual fee to be a Consultant for our company, which is one of the reasons why it’s different than most direct marketing companies out there. We also have the greatest compensation plan in which we have the chance to earn back our entire initial investment in our first three months as a Consultant. Did I mention that your initial investment can be as low as $52? There are no sales quotas or time expectations and that means we can work our businesses whenever and however much we want to. Although, the rewards that are available for R+F Consultants are spectacular and can only be received if certain sales minimums are met. But in no way does that mean we HAVE TO meet them! Who wouldn’t want an all expenses paid for vacation though…

Now the entrepreneurial aspect comes from running this business with my Mom, not just selling the products. This is our very own business and we run it the way that we want to. As a Consultant I have the ability to create a team and enable others to build their own businesses as well. This is the part of the business that I’m really focusing on, as I explained in my last 2 posts. Through consulting and being a part of this company I’m trying to prove that young people are capable of being successful at a young age and I’m also working on building our team.

Since the very first day that I became a Consultant I have been supported and encouraged by the Rodan+Fields community. Our skin-care community and team of Consultants are warm, welcoming, and so very helpful! It’s definitely made it much easier running a business at this age because there are both ups and down when you’re consulting. Having a good group of people surrounding me and my Mom has heightened our success, that’s for sure.

I hope I’ve been able to answer some questions you had and I encourage you to ask more! I’m open to sharing more about what I do as a Consultant, especially if it’s something you can see yourself or someone you know doing!

You can watch my short little video on this topic here!

What’s Your Excuse?

It’s a New Year and that means that we’ve all got a fresh start and a clean slate. Why not start it off with a bang! I’ve got a lot of things planned out for 2017 as a Consultant for Rodan+Fields, and although I’m still in school and working another job, I will always be able to work my business alongside my Mom. Consulting for Rodan+Fields is such an amazing opportunity and I’m so happy that I was able to become one this young and early on in my life. And you can too!

My latest video is all about confronting the excuses that have stopped or are stopping you from taking up this amazing opportunity.

Story Time

Hey there! As you may have read on my “About Me” page, I’ve started this blog to share with all of you (who are interested of course) about my journey through life as a young female entrepreneur and Consultant. Today I’d like to share a little bit more about myself and how I became a Consultant for Rodan + Fields.

10 Deets About Me:

1.I am the eldest of 7 children. I know right, CRAZY!

2. I have always had a creative side! I’ve taken pottery, painting, drawing, sewing, and dancing classes over my years. I even got a professional wooden easel and paint set for Christmas one year. I’m currently channeling my creativity through my Instagram account, YouTube Channel, and this blog!

3. I’ve also always been active. I’ve tried almost all of the sports you can think of. Gymnastics, competitive swimming, tennis, softball, basketball, volleyball, badminton, cheerleading, skiing, snowboarding, the list goes on.. but my favourites were gymnastics and cheerleading (probably because I’m such a girly girl! hehe). I don’t play on any teams now but I have a home gym that I work-out in almost every day. Fitness and health are very important to me.

4. My Dad owns a furniture business called E9 (Estrada 9, aka my family), and because I’ve grown up watching him, I’ve always had a drive to do something business related. I am currently studying business courses and I’m planning to get my Bachelors of Commerce with a specialization in Marketing.

5. I started working part-time when I was 14 years old, and since then have worked 4 different jobs. I never stopped working while I was in school because I believe that if I can make money for myself then why not do it? Working has always motivated me to work towards my goals and aspirations. Being employed at such a young age really gave me independence and a sense of responsibility.

6. My guilty pleasures are perfume, macarons, and anything Tiffany & Co.

7. I’m obsessed with white. This might just be because I have the tendency to perfect things and everything around me has to be organized but white will always be clean, simple, and chic!

8. I’m not so great at cooking but I do love to bake (when I find the time to). When I was younger that’s all I would do in my spare time, it was never electronics or video games. Instead you could find my teeny-tiny self pushing a sheet of cookies into the oven!

My go to website for recipes is Sally’s Baking Addiction.

 9. Although I love white, my favourite colour is burgundy.

10. I’ve always wanted to have my own blog and business. I’m not a journalist or a writer though, keep that in mind while you’re reading. Fun Fact: English was always my least favourite subject for some reason!

I hope I didn’t just bore you with facts! But I feel that it’s necessary for you all to know me a little more in depth before I share my story.

I was never planning on becoming an entrepreneur, or even running a business for that matter, so I can’t help but think that it was all meant to be! In October of 2016, a close family friend approached me and my Mom about attending a Rodan + Fields event, no strings attached. Now this wasn’t the first time my Mom had heard of the skincare company, but it was the first time she was approached with the idea that I could go with her. We attended the event (that the Dermatologists actually spoke at) and I was intrigued by the idea that I could be running a business with my Mom at the age of 18! The stories of  the Consultants that spoke were mesmerizing and definitely attractive. And so we signed up as skincare Consultants and business partners that evening. I didn’t have a vivid idea of what being a Consultant was like but I knew that it was something I couldn’t pass up.

We hit the ground running during the first few weeks after we had signed up and boy was it an adrenaline rush!! We were promoted to Executive Consultants within our first month!I have never felt so empowered, motivated, and in control of my life and my success.

The great thing about Consulting is that we choose how we want to run our business and because of that my mind has been overflowing with ideas (literally overflowing, I can barely write them all down on one sheet of paper!) It took me a couple of weeks to realize what my WHY was for being a Consultant but I did eventually figure it out and take action. It’s the reason why I created this blog!

I want to empower young people to go after the life that they’ve always wanted by sharing my experiences and my journey as a young entrepreneur. I’m talking lifestyle, career, relationships, and so on. I understand that not everyone’s situation is the same, but it’s the little changes that make a huge difference and I’m super pumped to share with you the changes I’ve made in my life to enhance the way I’m living and to move closer towards my goals and ambitions! Becoming an entrepreneur/Consultant has made me realize that we are all capable of doing anything we want to if we work hard every day and keep our vision in sight. Yes we’ve all heard this before but it’s real for me right now and I’m in control of where I’m going. Not only that, but I’m having fun while working hard. What a splendid combo! It feels absolutely incredible and I can’t wait to share more with you all.
