Summer 2018 Mood Boards

I’m constantly searching for inspiration, through Instagram, Pinterest, other people’s style and the little things that pass by in my everyday life, so I thought that for this summer I’d make a few mood boards to tie all of that inspiration up into single pages.

Mood Board: an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc., intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept.

This was my very first time creating them and it was super exciting and inspiring! It felt good being able to get an aesthetic of my thoughts onto an actual “board” (mine were digital). It was almost like my thoughts were coming to life, you know? Here’s the process that I went through to create the boards…

  1. I started out on Pinterest searching for fashion looks, makeup looks, colours and textures that I had in mind for a particular concept and saved them into a private pin board.
  2. I then opened up a word document and started downloading the Pinterest images to my desktop.
  3. Arranging the images was the trickiest part but as soon as I let go of the thought of making everything perfect I was able to work faster and I was definitely more relaxed.
  4. Once all of my images covered a page I saved the document as a PDF and voila! The mood boards were done.

Since I’ll be travelling this summer I created mood boards that incorporated the style, colours and textures that I’d like to wear on my trips. One of my mood boards is also an inspirational board for my everyday summer style in my home city, can you guess which one it is? 😉 (Hint: almost everything is the same colour!)

I highly recommend creating mood boards for yourself because not only is it a great way to stay inspired but I also feel like it’s a stress reliever. There’s something really satisfying about creating your own mood pieces 🙂

2018 Spring Make-Up Trends

Whenever Fashion Week is going on, no matter where it is, it’s always interesting to see what makeup might be on trend for the upcoming season, in this case Spring! I’ve rounded up my favourite makeup looks from Fashion Week to bring you possible trends for Spring 2018.

– Aqua Eyes –

Total mermaid vibes with this look from Tadashi Shoji.

– Natural Beauty –

Tanya Taylors models were styled with feathered brows and flush lips. Perfect for Spring I’d say.

– Single Coloured Eyelids –

Tracy Reese stunned the audience with simple but bold lids and natural nude lips.

– Bare Face, Bold Lip –

Pairing a barely there eyeshadow, minimal face makeup and bold lip on the Badgly Mischka runway.

– Minimal Makeup with Slicked Back Hair –

Etro’s SS18 show consisted of slicked back but natural hair and fresh faced beauty, almost as if you’d only washed your face!

– Nothing but a Bitten Lip –

These juicy bitten looking lips were featured on the Philosophy runway and can easily be recreated with a red lip stain and gloss.

  – Soft and Feminine –

The models at Vicky Zhang looked like literal angels with their halo braids and soft makeup. This is one of my favourites and my go-to look when I don’t want a full face. Recreate it with Glossier’s Cloud Paint in “Dusk”.

– Rose Gold Monochrome –

Rose gold lips, cheeks and lips made an appearance at Alberto Zambelli’s show.

– Sparkled Inner Eyes –

Bolder than what we usually do on the inner eye, Ralph & Russo models stunned with this silver sparkly finish on the eye.

– Dewy Skin and Shimmery Eyes –

Alberta Ferretti made a statement with her models in these dewy and shimmery looks. So easily recreated too!

– Glossy Eyelids –

Colovos brought back the glossy lid and tbh I’m pretty excited to see this becoming a thing again!

– Romantic Pinks –

These pinks work so well together! Cynthia Rowley really did it right with this edgy romantic look. The peachy eyes are EVERYTHING.

– Navy Eyeliner –

One would think that a navy eyeliner would be too bold but Dennis Basso was able to soften it with a subtle gold lid. How perfect?

– Soft Cappuccino Eyes –

A look that just about anyone could pull off in my opinion. Salvatore Ferragamo’s models showcased a very soft light brown eye with raw lips.

I think we’re going to be seeing a lot of minimal makeup this Spring season, and that makes me so happy because you know I’m a minimalist when it comes to the face stuff! Lots of feathered brows, soft pink cheeks and natural eye and lip colours. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with these trends how about you?



How to Free Up Your Weekends

I don’t know about you, but I love to have freedom on my weekends, AKA, I like not having to worry about finishing assignments or getting work done for deadlines. I’d say 90% of my weekends are laid back, and my secret is… I work my a** off during the week! I’ve broken down my habits during the week so that hopefully you can free up your weekends as well.

The key to weekend freedom is simply this, DO NOT WASTE PRECIOUS WEEKDAY TIME. As much as I’d love to spend my evenings catching up on Netflix shows and scrolling through my social media, I don’t. I’ve developed the habit of getting done what’s important before sitting down to relax.


  • Complete assignments in between classes.
  • Complete assignments ahead of time.
  • If you write class notes, write them in the evenings from Monday-Thursday.
  • If you’re taking an online course, read your chapters in the evenings and complete discussions or weekly activities in between your classes.
  • Pay attention in class so that you don’t have to take time outside of class to catchup and re-read what you’ve just been taught.

Asides from exam time, I really do try hard to keep my weekends free because that’s my time to refresh my brain for the upcoming week. When it’s exam time I follow these guidelines but do a lot of my studying on the weekends.


  • Accept that if deadlines aren’t met it is NOT the end of the world. If you’re stressing out about not meeting a project deadline or something similar then take a step back and re-evaluate. Stressing yourself out will likely cause you to take double the amount of time to finish the task.
  • Stay OFF of your phone. If you work in an office like me and sit at your desk for 7/8 of the day then you know how tempting it can be to check your phone every so often. I’ve learned to keep my phone either in my desk or bag so that I don’t waste time doing useless things on it when I should be working!
  • Do not bring work home with you. What’s done is done and if you’ve managed your time correctly then your deadlines should be completely feasible! Don’t bring work home on the weekends because it will prevent you from getting the proper relaxation that your mind needs and will carry stress over into the next week.


  • Put your phone down. So obvious right? Trust me, it saves a TON of time.
  • Exercise regularly and eat right! This might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think time saver but it certainly is. Exercising and feeding your body the right types of energy will boost your productivity.
  • Use a planner or agenda. Documenting your to-do lists ahead of time will save you stress, protect you from forgetting things, and keep you on track.

Self Care Ideas

One my new years resolutions in 2018 is to focus more on self-care so today I’d like to share a few of my favourite ways to wind down and relax. These are the different ways that I calm down after a long stressful day, take my mind off of the gazillion things going on in my life and refresh my body and mind.

Although focussing on work, school, and other people is important, it’s just as important to take care of yourself. In today’s world everything moves at the speed of lightning (not literally of course) and it’s easy to slip into a daily, weekly, and even monthly routine that doesn’t involve time for you. Time for yourself is precious and vital to your health so keep reading for some self-care inspiration!

  1. Get your nails done. Only if it’s something you enjoy of course, but I love how a fresh mani or pedi makes me feel! Refreshed, brand new, and ready to take on the world.Processed with VSCO with a4 preset
  2. Fix yourself a bubble bath. Throw in those essential oils, bath salts and bombs and you’ve got yourself a tub full of relaxation. Processed with VSCO with a4 preset
  3. Put on a face mask. If you’re really stressed put on a face mask and just lay down for 15 minutes. Your skin and body will thank you. Processed with VSCO with a4 preset
  4. Make a cup of tea. Tea is one of the keys to my heart so a nice warm cup always calms me down. Processed with VSCO with a4 preset
  5. Buy a bouquet of flowers. No one ever said you couldn’t buy yourself flowers right? They radiate happiness and good vibes for a couple of weeks and brighten up any room! Processed with VSCO with a4 preset
  6. Grab a latte and sit by the water. One of my favourite pastimes is sitting by the river with a tea latte. If you can find a body of water near you just sit and watch for 30 minutes, the inner peace it creates is like no other. Processed with VSCO with a4 preset

Grateful For You All

As I get back on track from my 3-week vacation all that I can seem to think about is how grateful I am for every single one of you reading this right now. 2017 was a big year for me in terms of influencing and becoming a blogger, and none of it would have been as successful as it was without each of you. Today I’d like to do a little overview of the past year (even though we’re already halfway through January) and show my appreciation for you with a giveaway announcement!

My blog began in January of 2017 as an avenue to share my journey as a young entrepreneur starting out in direct marketing. I never would have thought that it would turn into my true passion and something that motivates me day by day. I travelled to Toronto in January of 2017, Los Angeles in July, the Philippines in December, and as you know I started January 2018 in Hawaii! This was also the year that I became legal in British Columbia, started my second year of college, and spent another wonderful year with my boyfriend (officially making it four all together)!

I hit 200 subscribers on YouTube, a decent number to me in my first year and 5000 followers on Instagram. Every single one of those people are appreciated and loved so I’ll be announcing a giveaway on my Instagram this week! On the Topic of Blogging

This post won’t be as structured as others because I’m treating it like a free write so that I can really speak my mind about blogging, bear with me.

So I’ve always hated English courses and writing essays but ironically I’ve fallen in love with blog post writing. It may be because it’s an outlet for my creativity and no one is grading me for it, but either way it’s something that I now quite enjoy doing in my spare time and not something that I dread. Obviously if I felt forced to write then I wouldn’t be posting twice a week!

To this day I believe that everyone has their own thing; a sport that they’re really good at, dance, singing, or some other talent. Even though I’ve tried just about every sport, art class, singing, and dancing (hip-hop only hahaha) I’ve never felt attached to or passionate about any of them. I would say gymnastics and cheerleading were my favourite extra-curricular activities but unfortunately I didn’t carry through with them.

A few facts about me:

  • I’ve always LOVED art. Drawing, sculpting, painting, you name it. It’s always been something I really enjoyed but I never knew what to do with it I guess? At one point I even had a professional wooden easel with acrylic, oil, and water-colour paints!
  • I got 100% in art class in Grade 9 LOL. How is that possible?!
  • Even though I always hated writing in school, I was still able to keep my grades up in English.
  • I wanted to be a fashion designer and interior designer when I was younger and I used to draw sketches of models and clothing. I even designed my own dream bedroom once (it was epic)!
  • I’ve never been a huge makeup junkie and I definitely suck at buying the latest products haha. I’m more of a minimalist when it comes to makeup; one eyeshadow palette, one mascara, one contour kit etc.

I started blogging for the main reason of wanting to share my entrepreneurial story about being a skin-care Consultant for Rodan+Fields but it’s grown on me and I’ve realized that I can use it for so much more! Who doesn’t love talking about the things that they love?! That’s exactly what I do now and why I love blogging so much. I can literally talk about anything and share it with whoever I want.

My passion for fashion, beauty, and lifestyle has definitely bloomed through my blog and I couldn’t be happier about what it’s done for me. I feel so much more aligned with myself and who I am because of it. I finally have my “thing” and I’m ecstatic that it’s something I can share with all of you.

I say, go for it if you want it. If you feel like blogging, doing a YouTube channel, or content creating is for you, then just do it! All it takes is effort and hard work. The more passionate you feel about it, the less it feels like work.

Exam Study Techniques

It’s that time of year again, yikes! The time of year that college students (like myself) are scrambling to meet deadlines, attempting to study for multiple courses at a time, and basically just trying to stay sane through it all. Today I’d like to share a few of my study techniques in hopes of helping you figure out your schedule and to relieve you of some stress. Since day one I’ve been a studious student (or a keener in other words) always preparing weeks ahead of time for tests, exams, and assignments but that doesn’t always mean I want to be doing it. There are times that I feel like dropping out and times that I completely lose track of what I’m doing. The worksheets that I’ll be providing you with today help me to stay on top of all of my courses and I really hope they help you do the same!


This year since my courses are so dense I’ve decided to start studying 3 weeks ahead of time. With multiple chapters in each course it can get hard to figure out which ones you should be studying for and when, so the first worksheet will help you to figure out what it is you should actually be focussing on.


The second worksheet attached in the document is a calendar that you can use to schedule which chapters and courses you will be studying each day. Depending on the time allotment that you have made for each chapter on the first worksheet, you can decide how much time you have to study everyday and which chapters you have room for.  It’s very easy to use but extremely helpful when it comes to knowing what you need to do! Think of it as a month-long to-do list.



  • Make sure you take at least one day off during the week, or at least an evening off to re-energize and re-focus your energy. Studying can be very draining so a little bit of time for relaxation is definitely necessary for your success.
  • Try exercising before a studying session! It stimulates the brain, wakes you up, and it can make you feel really productive and determined!
  • Eat wholesome and healthy foods. Eating junk foods will not help you when it comes to studying because you’ll be tired and lazy. Eating fruits, vegetables, and proper meals will keep your energy levels up.
  • Be strict on yourself! Don’t give in for that “one night out drinking ” or other activities that will take you off track of your study schedule. Unless you’re willing to work extra hard and complete double the amount of work the next day.
  • Study in a place that allows you to focus. I personally find that I get a lot of work done in a cafe setting, but whatever it may be, choose a place where you can study in peace and really focus.

My Bedroom Decor

I’ve received so many requests for this post so here it FINALLY is! A room tour to show you all of my decor, where it’s from, and why I’ve chosen to decorate the way I did! I wasn’t exactly sure how I would write this post so it’ll mainly be photos of my bedroom followed with links of similar decor items.

My bedroom walls are a very pale shade of grey with white trimming and all of my furniture is white so naturally I knew I would be decorating it with colours and pieces that pop.

PS. I grew up with the aspiration of one day becoming an interior designer but since that isn’t happening I just decorate my own spaces as if I actually am a complete PRO. I visit Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram and every other site you can imagine to find inspo and then I MAKE IT HAPPEN for myself! It really is the best way to get exactly what you want out of a room.

While I am still a student and I have a certain budget, all of the pieces in my room, from furniture to decoration, are affordable. I’ll caption each photo with the stores that I purchased my decor from, but I can’t guarantee you’ll find the exact pieces.

My bedroom has a gold, black, and white fashion theme and it’s very simplistic. With that being said, let’s get into the goods!

Instead of inserting boxes into each shelving unit I’ve used three of them for decoration/storage. I like to keep the colours very similar so that there’s a nice overall look and feel in the room. For example, each item in the “decoration” boxes has black and/or white and gold.

Each decorative piece on top of this unit is from Marshalls or Winners. It’s not hard to find great pieces that match and they’re very affordable too. This glass piece on the right was on clearance because one piece of glass is missing, but I’ve angled it so you can’t see! I use this one to store some of my silk scarves because they’re too pretty to tuck away.

This jewelry box is from Marshalls, the Chanel book is from a used-books store, and the Vogue magazine is just an everyday purchase from the drugstore. I’m always on the go AND I love looking at handbags so I recently installed these floating shelves from IKEA to display all of mine! They’re already starting to overflow…but that’s an issue for another time. I really try to make use of the things I have to decorate my room.

My fragrances are some of my most prized possessions so they deserve their very own shelf! This gold mirrored plate is from Marshalls and the white mini vase is from the dollar store.

There’s not too much in this picture and that’s the point. Since there’s already so much going on in my open-closet I felt it was necessary to keep my storage bins to a minimum and use the same colour throughout. The white makes the shelves look more spacious and less cluttered.

This wall was a DIY project that I did recently and I printed out my own posters then purchased cheap frames from the dollar store. I filmed this DIY project so you can find it here. Once again I’ve used my theme colours black, white, and gold to match the rest of the room. Here are a few similar frames from IKEA.

My work space is always tidy and I keep it that way by minimizing what I have on my desk. There’s gold accents here and there with my Kate Spade calendar and IKEA lamp and the magazine rack serves as a point of contrast in the room. Unfortunately the white board from IKEA is discontinued so I’ve tagged a similar one.

What’s New in My Wardrobe

With each new season a shopping spree arises…so here is what’s new in my wardrobe this Fall! I’m so happy that it’s officially Autumn because we were all kind of jumping on the warm and cozy fashion while we were still in summer, but now we can fully dive into it! Bring on the berets, scarves, boots, and pumpkin spice lattes!

Gucci Slim Belt

This is probably my most prized purchase of the season because I’ve been eyeing it for SO long. About half a year to be exact. I got it unexpectedly because it was the last one available in store in black (the most popular colour apparently) and they weren’t sure when it would be restocked. It felt a little like fate 😉 Of course the belt wasn’t my size, it was double my waist actually, so I had to have it altered but it only cost a small $35 to get it done and now it fits perfectly!


You can easily shop this belt at Holt Renfrew, Gucci, and Neiman Marcus but finding the right size might be a little tricky and they don’t restock often.

Home Exercises ft. Ankle Weights

As you may know I work-out 5 to 6 days a week in my home gym (recently I’ve been doing 6 days a week to get ready for summer 😉 ) I’ve been asked a few times to post about my work-out routine and I have finally come around to doing it! These exercises are what I do specifically with ankle weights, but most of them can also be done without.

I’ve been working out since 2014, and I’ve always worked out at home, never owned a gym pass! You can read about why I work-out from home right here. Something about having a home gym just makes me feel as if I have an obligation to work-out every time that I pass by it! Self-motivation is key though.

Now let’s get to the exercises!

Arm Workouts with Ankle Weights Around Wrists

  • Straight Arm Movements (up, down, forward, backward); Keeping your arms extended and level to your shoulders, make rapid movements and alternate going up, down, forward, and back.
  • Boxing Punches (Rapid Fire)
  • Arm Circles; Keeping your arms extended and level to your shoulders, move them in a small circular motion for a set amount of seconds.

Legs/Glutes Workouts with Ankle Weights Around Ankles

  • Jump Squats
  • Jumping Jacks
  • Standing Sideways Leg Lifts; stand straight and hold onto something, keep your lifted leg straight and the supporting leg slightly bent. Alternate lifting your left and right legs to become level with your waist.
  • Fire Hydrants; Get on all fours and alternate lifting (not extending) your left and right legs.
  • Lunges
  • Leg Extensions (on chair); Sit on a chair with both hands to your sides holding on. Extend both legs from sitting position to straight and repeat.
  • High Knees

Abdominal Workouts with Ankle Weights (around ankles)

  • Leg Lifts Laying Down; Lay down on your back, lift both legs off the ground and repeat.
  • Leg Extensions; Lay down on your back and put your hands behind your neck with your head slightly raised off the ground. Pull in your knees then extend both legs together and repeat.
  • Leg Raise Toe Touches; Lay down on your back with your arms extended up above your head. Lift both hands and feet at the same time to meet above, keeping your arms and legs as straight as possible.
  • Bicycle Kicks

Now all of these exercises are great for home workouts, but the number of reps for each exercise will vary depending on how fit you are and how often you workout! Consistency is also key if you’re working towards a certain body goal, so keep that in mind when you set up your workout routine!
