1-Week Celery Juice Cleanse

Here’s what happened when I drank celery juice every morning for a week straight!

A couple of weeks ago I decided to try out the pure celery juice “cleanse” that’s currently all over the internet. Ever since Kylie Jenner revealed that this is what she drinks every morning, tons of blogs and websites have been covering the benefits of it. I’m a fan of celery and my skin wasn’t doing super well at the time, so I decided to give it a shot.

Lots of people don’t do the cleanse because they think it involves a juicer, but that’s definitely not necessary. It’s totally do-able with a blender and a strainer. To my surprise, preparing the juice was actually super quick! I’ll go over the ingredients and instructions below.

Benefits

Celery juice does more than just clear up your skin, it also detoxifies, is anti-inflammatory, promotes better bone and heart health and more.

Celery is high in Vitamin K and Vitamin C making it a great way to boost the immune system too. The anti-inflammatory properties reduce bloating, acid reflux, acne, eczema and other inflammation issues. I’m not a scientist but I do know that most of these things are true from personal experience!

How to Prepare the Juice

Ingredients: 5-6 sticks of celery, 15-16oz of cold water

Prep Time: 5 minutes

  • Rinse the celery and chop the ends of the sticks off. Cut the sticks in half and throw them in a regular high speed blender.
  • Add 15-16oz of water and blend until smooth.
  • Pour the celery pulp and juice into a large strainer over a bowl. Wait for most of the juice to be released then take a spoon and push down on the pulp to release excess liquid.
  • Pour the pure juice into a cup and voila! The celery pulp is great in soups, or you can chuck it in the organics bin.

My Results

I drank this first thing in the morning for 7 days in a row and from start to finish I saw a huge change in the balance and texture of my skin. I decided to write a blog post on this a few days into my cleanse so unfortunately I don’t have photos, but I’ll try my best to explain the differences I saw. Keep in mind that I didn’t change anything else in my routine and I was using the exact same skincare as always!

#1 My skin became smoother over the course of 7 days. I often get small bumps on my forehead and chin, and with this cleanse those began to vanish. Texture of my skin is something that I notice the most. When I say I’m having a “bad skin day” that usually means that I’ve got more texture than usual, pores are larger and blackheads more visible. The celery juice, IMO, helped clear this stuff up.

#2 My skin became brighter! This is a tricky one to explain, but basically I saw a change in how my skin looked when I woke up. A lot of mornings I’ll wake up and my skin will be dull and it’ll take washing my face and putting on a new layer of skincare to “wake it up”. While doing this celery juice cleanse, my skin was brighter and almost glowing as soon as I’d wake up.

What’s next…

When I stopped drinking celery juice every morning (during my trip to LA) my skin went back to it’s normal self, which is why I’m going to continue drinking the juice every morning! I will say it’s not a pleasant drink when the celery is bitter so buy it in smaller stocks. I think it’ll take a while for me to properly tie it into my daily routine, especially when I’m away, but it’ll be worth it.
