6 Ways to Keep Your Skin Glowing During Winter

With colder than ever temperatures and low humidity levels Winter is one of the worst times for our skin. That’s why it’s super important for us to be pro-active and take care of it before cracking, flakiness, and irritation starts.

  1. Wash in luke warm water rather than hot. Using hot water strips your skin of oils that are essential to keeping it hydrated and glowing. Lukewarm water will prevent this from happening and will result in more hydrated skin.
  2. Moisturize right after your showers or baths and face washes. If you apply moisturizer to slightly damp skin it locks in the hydration.
  3. Use oil-based moisturizers instead of water-based. Your skin requires more oils in the Winter due to the colder weather.
  4. Don’t forget to use SPF. You may think that because there are clouds in the sky the sun can’t get you but you’re wrong! The rays of the sun are hitting you no matter what’s in the sky and if there’s snow on the ground then the reflection of light can cause even more skin damage.
  5. Drink water! This is a little obvious, but something that people tend to do less in cold weather because they turn to teas and coffees for quenching their thirst.
  6. Exfoliate your skin one to two times a week. Dead skin builds up quickly and requires attention, so don’t forget to rub it off with an exfoliator a couple of times a week.
