Have you ever been at home craving a PSL but you’re too lazy to visit your nearest cafe to get one? Yup, me too! Luckily I’ve found a homemade PSL recipe that actually DOES compare to Starbucks’ famous pumpkin spice latte! Whenever I make little homemade goods like this I love to make either a day or night out of it. This recipe goes well with a candle lit games night, popcorn, milk chocolate, and your favourite classic film.
2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 to 3 tablespoons sugar, depending on how sweet you like it
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more for serving
1/2 cup strong hot coffee
Whipped cream, for serving
Add milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Heat until hot, but do not boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and the coffee.
Divide the mixture between two mugs. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
Tips & Tricks
- I love this recipe with 2% milk but you can definitely substitute for almond, soy, or coconut too!
- The sugar in this recipe can also be substituted for honey or an artificial sweetener. It’s totally up to you!
- If you don’t want to buy pumpkin spice you can make your own with: 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon + 2 teaspoons ground ginger + 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg + a pinch of ground cloves.
Enjoy your PSLs ladies and gents!
