Healthy-ish Breakfast Ideas

You’ve probably read a dozen different articles about healthy breakfast ideas like I have and then only tried one or two of them. But today I’m going to share with you my tried and true healthy breakfast ideas! (The ones I’ve actually made, tried, and enjoy that is.) The even better part is that they’re super easy to make!

Banana Quinoa Pudding

This pudding is to DIE FOR and when you substitute regular milk for coconut milk, it tastes like heaven. This is an easy pudding to make in a batch and store in the fridge for a few days. I personally like to garnish my pudding with flax seeds, dried cranberries, and raisins. You could even add honey if you have more of a sweet-tooth 😉 You can read my recipe here.

Avocado with Fried Egg & Toast

This is a classic. I could eat this for days, and I’m being serious. A quick prep meal full of nutrients and protein is perfect before a long and busy day! I like to pair my avocado and egg with a wholewheat or 12-grain bread, but my absolute favourite bread is sourdough.

Granola with Coconut Milk

This is also a super quick breakfast, not so much to run out the door with, but definitely to scarf down when you’re in a rush! My favourite granola of all time is Nature Path’s Pumpkin Flax granola. This mixed with Silk Original Coconut Milk is delicious!

Chocolate Coconut Milk Breakfast Shake

Even though I always make sure that I have a breakfast meal before leaving the house, sometimes I do find that I have only a few minutes to prepare something. A breakfast shake is the way to go when I’m out of time and about to run for the bus. This is not a blender type of shake because it’s actually a pre-made powder that you add milk to! I like to drink the Nestle Carnation Breakfast Essentials Powder in chocolate flavour and mix it with Silk Original Coconut Milk. The great thing about this shake mix is that it contains the major nutrients that you need for the day (protein, calcium, iron).

Strawberry Compote & Vanilla Protein Pancakes

What would a breakfast idea list be without protein pancakes?! Here it is. I am not down to mix up a made from scratch pancake batter so I opt for Aunt Jemima’s Original Pancake & Waffle mix and add a scoop of protein to the batter. While my pancakes are on the stove I grab a handful of chopped strawberries (frozen or thawed), a 1/2 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar and throw them in a pot. I let the water come to a boil and the strawberries begin to thaw and create a sauce. After 5-10 minutes of the strawberries simmering the compote is ready!

Peanut Butter & Banana on Toast

Now this is definitely something you can dash out of the house with in your hand! It’s as simple as whole grain toast, all natural peanut butter, and sliced banana.

Honey & Oatmeal

I’m not a huge fan of oatmeal but when I do eat it I like it sweet. Adding honey or brown sugar to plain oatmeal definitely makes a difference. You can even mix in coconut milk to add a little more flavour! This one is sure to make you full though!

Try out some of these breakfast ideas and let me know how you like them!
